Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the application and effects of IT-based optimization on emergency laboratory testing procedures.
  • To assess the impact of IT implementation on key performance indicators.

Main Methods:

  • A quasi-experimental design comparing pre- and post-IT implementation periods (Oct-Dec 2021).
  • Analysis of emergency laboratory test report times, deadline adherence, error rates, and satisfaction levels.
  • Data collected from January-September 2021 (pre-optimization) and January-September 2022 (post-optimization).

Main Results:

  • IT-based optimization significantly reduced emergency laboratory test report times (P < 0.05).
  • The time limit coincidence rate increased from 98.77% to 99.03% (P < 0.05), and the error rate decreased from 0.77‱ to 0.15‱ (P < 0.05).
  • Employee satisfaction rose from 80.65% to 93.55% (P > 0.05), and patient satisfaction increased from 93.06% to 98.44% (P < 0.05).

Conclusions:

  • Automation and IT-based optimization substantially decrease emergency laboratory test report times and error rates.
  • IT-driven optimization improves adherence to reporting deadlines and enhances the overall quality and safety of emergency laboratory services.
