Background:

Sexual victimization is a significant concern among transgender emerging adults.
Understanding risk factors and co-occurring issues is vital for effective support.

Purpose of the Study:

To examine differences in risk factors associated with sexual victimization histories in transgender emerging adults.
To investigate the relationship between child sexual abuse (CSA), intimate partner violence (IPV), substance use, and minority stressors.

Main Methods:

Cross-sectional study of 248 transgender emerging adults recruited online.
Participants categorized based on CSA and recent sexual IPV experiences.
Multivariate analysis of variance used to compare substance use, minority stress, and relationship functioning.

Main Results:

Participants reporting sexual IPV showed higher substance use.
Transfeminine participants reported increased alcohol use problems.
Those with both CSA and sexual IPV reported higher discrimination and internalized sexual stigma.

Conclusions:

Sexual revictimization in transgender adults is linked to substance use and minority stressors.
Findings highlight the need for trauma-informed, integrated healthcare and specialized training for providers.
Intervention services should address multiple forms of victimization, substance use, and minority stress.
