Current Trends in Nursing II

1.2K
Trends in nursing are multifactorial and associated with changes in society, within the nursing profession, and in other professions. Notably, telehealth and remote nursing contribute to successful healthcare delivery for numerous patients and help reduce stress for nurses due to nursing shortages. Nurses can reach patients, monitor their conditions, and interact with them using computers, audio, visual accessories, and telephones—for example, remote patient monitoring systems. Likewise,...

Nursing Interventions II: Selecting and Classifying the Nursing Interventions

2.2K
Creating and executing a nursing diagnosis helps nurses plan care and guide patient, family, and community interventions. They are developed based on a patient's physical evaluation and support measuring the outcomes. It is not recommended to select random interventions throughout the planning process. Instead, consider the following six essential factors when choosing interventions:

Nursing Interventions I: Taxonomy of Nursing Interventions

2.6K
Nursing interventions are chosen as part of the planning process to achieve patient outcomes. Once nursing diagnoses are determined, the goals and outcomes are specified, then the nursing interventions are selected and individualized according to the patient's situation.
A nursing intervention is a treatment or action based on scientific concepts and knowledge from the nursing, behavioral, and physical sciences. Identifying and prioritizing nursing interventions based on the desired outcome...

Nursing Evaluation01:15

Nursing Evaluation

3.3K
The evaluation stage signals the end of the nursing process. The nurse gathers evaluative data to assess whether or not the patient has attained the expected results. Whereas the nurse collects data in the nursing assessment to identify the patient's health concerns, the evaluation stage data determines if the indicated health issues are resolved. Evaluative data collection includes two sections: the data acquired to evaluate patient outcomes and the time criteria for data collection.

Adopting a healthier lifestyle often requires overcoming significant challenges, but leveraging psychological, social, and cultural resources can facilitate meaningful change. Effective self-change hinges on understanding and applying key tools such as motivation and goal setting, which help sustain efforts toward long-term health benefits.
Motivation and Self-Determination
Motivation, the driving force behind behavior, plays a pivotal role at every stage of the change process. The research...

Area of Science:

  • Nursing and Midwifery
  • Occupational Health
  • Psychology

Background:

  • Examined interventions to reduce burnout, secondary traumatic stress, and emotional exhaustion in nurses and midwives.
  • Systematic review focused on studies measuring burnout using the Professional Quality of Life scale (ProQOL) or Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI).

Approach:

  • Conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of relevant literature.
  • Screened 2103 articles, with 66 meeting inclusion criteria for analysis.
  • Final meta-analysis included 33 reports from 12 ProQOL studies and 21 MBI studies.

Key Points:

  • Studies using ProQOL showed a significant positive effect (Z=2.07, P=0.04) with a mean difference of 9.32.
  • Studies using MBI demonstrated a significant positive effect (Z=3.13, P=0.002) with a mean difference of 6.58.
  • Both measures indicated positive improvements from interventions.

Conclusions:

  • Clinical supervision and activities supporting personal physical and mental well-being were most effective.
  • Managerial interventions and purely educational approaches were less effective in ameliorating burnout.
  • Targeted interventions are crucial for improving the well-being of nurses and midwives.
