Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the association between religious overclaiming of Christian Bible knowledge and intimate partner violence (IPV) perpetration.
  • To examine if men exhibiting higher religious overclaiming are more prone to IPV perpetration.
  • To determine if religiosity moderates the relationship between religious overclaiming and IPV.

  • Two studies involving 551 participants were conducted.
  • Participants completed measures of religious overclaiming, IPV perpetration, and religiosity.
