  • Factors causing nondiagnostic sampling and bronchoscopist-pathologist discordance are unclear.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To identify factors associated with nondiagnostic transbronchial alveolar sampling in lung transplant recipients.
  • To compare patient demographics and procedural characteristics between diagnostic and nondiagnostic biopsy groups.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective cohort study of 128 lung transplant recipients undergoing bronchoscopy with biopsy.
  • Assessment of nondiagnostic alveolar sampling rates.
  • Comparison of patient demographics and procedural characteristics.

Main Results:

  • The inadequacy rate for alveolar tissue sampling was 15.5%.
