    Area of Science:

    • Pediatric Surgery
    • Gastroenterology
    • Genetics

    Background:

    • Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disorder affecting multiple organs, primarily the lungs and digestive system.
    • Meconium ileus is a common neonatal complication of CF, but meconium ileus equivalent (MIE) in older children, especially post-appendectomy, is less emphasized.
    • Post-appendectomy complications in CF patients require careful consideration due to potential impacts on intestinal function.
