Timing for extraction of permanent first molars in school aged children: a pilot study

Summary

Extracting permanent first molars (P1Ms) can cause adjacent teeth to shift. This study found that P1M extraction leads to mesial tipping of the permanent second molar (P2M), regardless of P2M calcification stage at extraction.
