Abstract:
Data on the effects of selection in breeds of dogs were collected. Particularly, effects on behavioural traits, characteristics of type and movement and state of health. The data were collected by studies of the literature and discussions with dog breeders and their organisations. The data collected was used to design a model of a dog population. In this model, various genetically determined traits were introduced and the breeding policy for these traits was then discussed with experts in breeding of animals of other species.
