DNA origami nanodevices can now be delivered into live cell nuclei. Functionalizing nanorods with an antibody against RNA Polymerase II enables nuclear entry and stability for advanced biological research.
Area of Science:
- Nanotechnology
- Molecular Biology
- Cell Biology
Background:
- DNA origami (DO) are versatile nanodevices with potential applications in vitro and in vivo.
- Targeting DO to mammalian cell nuclei is crucial for studying and controlling intracellular biological processes.
- Current methods for nuclear delivery of nanostructures are limited.
Conclusions:
- Functionalizing DNA origami with antibodies targeting nuclear factors is a highly effective strategy for nanodevice delivery into live cell nuclei.
- This approach enables the use of DNA origami for probing, visualizing, and controlling biological processes within the nucleus of live cells.
- The demonstrated nuclear delivery method opens new avenues for advanced applications in molecular and cell biology research.
