Purpose of the Study:

  • Retrospective review of 591 clinic-based studies for 510 adult patients.
  • Data collected via chart review, including demographics and completion status.
  • Univariate and bivariate analyses performed to identify significant factors (P < .05).

  • Overall study completion rate was 94.2%.
  • Invasive studies had higher incompletion rates (8.3%) than noninvasive studies (3.3%).
  • Electrodiagnostic studies (EDS) demonstrated the highest incompletion rate (11.4%) within the invasive category.

Conclusions:

  • Study completion rates did not significantly differ based on race, gender, or socioeconomic variables.
  • Invasive studies, especially EDS, present higher incompletion rates and potential barriers to patient care.
