    Area of Science:

    • Endocrinology
    • Oncology

    Background:

    • Secondary hyperparathyroidism is a condition that can occur with other endocrine disorders.
    • Thyroid cancer is a common endocrine malignancy.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To report the first known cases of concurrent secondary hyperparathyroidism and thyroid cancer.
    • To discuss the clinical implications of managing these two conditions together.

    Main Methods:

    • Case report of two patients presenting with both secondary hyperparathyroidism and thyroid cancer.
    • Review of existing literature on associations between hyperparathyroidism and thyroid cancer.

    Main Results:

    • Two cases of concomitant secondary hyperparathyroidism and thyroid cancer were identified.
    • No clear association between primary hyperparathyroidism and non-medullary thyroid cancer was established, suggesting coincidence.

    Conclusions:

    • The simultaneous occurrence of secondary hyperparathyroidism and thyroid cancer is rare.
    • Increased clinical awareness and vigilance are recommended for managing patients with both conditions.
