Summary

Ocular surface diseases (OSD) are highly prevalent in atopic dermatitis (AD) patients, affecting 85%. Identifying risk factors like allergic rhinitis and high IgE levels can guide ophthalmological management for AD patients.

Background:

  • Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition often linked to ocular surface diseases (OSD).
  • OSD prevalence and ophthalmology referral criteria in AD patients undergoing anti-type 2 treatments are not well-defined.
  • This study aimed to define OSD prevalence, characteristics, and risk factors in AD patients.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine the prevalence and nature of OSD in atopic dermatitis patients.
  • To identify risk factors associated with OSD in AD.
  • To establish ophthalmological management criteria for AD patients.

  • Retrospective analysis of 98 AD inpatients without prior biological treatment.
