Summary

Serum neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) and cystatin C (Cys-C) show promise for early diagnosis of contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). These biomarkers are more sensitive than serum creatinine (SCr) for detecting early renal changes.
