Background:

China's population is aging rapidly, creating a significant demand for aged care services.
Existing aged care personnel, particularly medical professionals, are insufficient to meet this growing need.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop standardized geriatric nursing micro-credentials (MCs) for undergraduate nursing students.
To define specific learning goals and course modules for each MC.

Main Methods:

A modified Delphi study involving expert group discussions and a three-round online survey.
Consensus was reached on learning goals and course modules through expert input and participant surveys.
Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the collected data.

Main Results:

Six geriatric nursing micro-credentials (MCs) were finalized.
These MCs cover fundamentals, sociology, clinical, psychological, rehabilitation, and hospice care of the elderly.
Each MC comprises multiple modules, ranging from 3 to 10 modules.

Conclusions:

The developed geriatric nursing MCs provide a framework for training undergraduate nursing students.
These MCs can help prepare a future workforce to support the increasing elderly population.
This initiative aims to bolster the ranks of qualified geriatric caregivers.
