Summary

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, known as DeprEND, effectively reduced depression in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) patients. This feasible treatment improved mental well-being and showed brain function changes.

  • Depressive symptoms in MS can significantly impair overall well-being and physical function.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the feasibility and effectiveness of the Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy protocol for depressive disorders (DeprEND) in MS patients.
  • To investigate the impact of DeprEND on both psychological and physical symptoms in individuals with MS.

Main Methods:

  • A process-outcome study involving 13 individuals with MS and depressive symptoms.
  • Utilized psychological and physical assessments pre-, post-intervention, and at a 3-month follow-up.
