Background:

Psychological resilience is vital for nurses facing workplace stressors.
The demands nurses place on their work environment are not fully understood.
A supportive environment is key to maintaining nurse well-being and retention.

Purpose of the Study:

To explore nurses' demands on the workplace environment.
To identify factors influencing psychological resilience in nurses.
To inform strategies for enhancing nurse support systems.

Main Methods:

Qualitative descriptive study design.
Purposeful sampling of 20 nurses from a tertiary hospital in China.
Semi-structured interviews analyzed using Colaizzi's method.

Main Results:

Three key themes emerged: Career Support and Development, Practical Support & Development, and Personal Support and Development.
Nurses identified specific needs across professional, practical, and personal domains.
These findings highlight multifaceted demands for a supportive work environment.

Conclusions:

Nurses' perspectives on workplace demands are essential for fostering psychological resilience.
Creating a supportive environment across professional, practical, and personal dimensions is critical.
Nursing administrators should implement policies addressing these identified needs to strengthen nurse resilience.
