Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate if stimulus familiarity increases the likelihood of noticing unexpected objects.
  • To determine if highly familiar visual stimuli can overcome inattentional blindness.

Main Methods:

  • Conducted four preregistered inattentional blindness experiments with 1700 participants.
  • Experiment 1 used upright vs. inverted/scrambled faces.
  • Experiments 2-4 used national flags and company logos from different countries.
