Generation Z students benefit more from metaverse learning than traditional distance education. This study found metaverse significantly improved motivation and academic achievement in nursing students.
Area of Science:
- Educational Technology
- Nursing Education
- Virtual Reality
Background:
- Traditional distance education methods are less effective for Generation Z learners.
- There is a need for innovative educational platforms to enhance student engagement and success.
Purpose of the Study:
- To compare the effectiveness of metaverse-based learning with traditional distance education for Generation Z nursing students.
- To assess the impact of metaverse on learning motivation and academic achievement.
Main Methods:
- A randomized controlled study involving 42 students.
- Experimental group received metaverse-based instruction; control group received traditional distance education.
- Instructional Materials Motivation Survey and academic achievement scores were used for assessment.
Main Results:
- No significant difference in motivation scores before the intervention.
- Metaverse group showed significantly higher motivation (96.52 ± 9.54) compared to the control group (82.55 ± 13.18) post-intervention.
- The experimental group achieved higher academic scores (76.57 ± 13.33) than the control group (64.40 ± 16.42).
Conclusions:
- Metaverse is an effective learning method for nursing education, surpassing traditional distance education.
- The study recommends expanding metaverse integration in nursing curricula.
- Metaverse enhances both learning motivation and academic outcomes for Generation Z students.
