Calcium Blood Level Elevation After Atorvastatin Initiation in a Patient With Hyperparathyroidism

Atorvastatin, a cholesterol-lowering drug, may cause elevated calcium levels, a rare adverse effect. Stopping the medication lowered calcium in a patient with hyperparathyroidism, suggesting a link.

- Physicians should consider atorvastatin-induced hypercalcemia, especially in patients with pre-existing hypercalcemia or hyperparathyroidism.
