Summary

Dynamic stabilization effectively manages multilevel degenerative spondylotic spine conditions. Both Dynesys® and Orthrus® systems demonstrated satisfactory clinical outcomes and safety in long-segment stabilization surgeries.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate dynamic stabilization outcomes in multilevel degenerative spondylotic spine.
  • To compare Dynesys® and Orthrus® dynamic systems.
  • To highlight the role of dynamic systems in degenerative spine management.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective analysis of 74 patients undergoing dynamic stabilization.
  • Evaluation of demographic, preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative data.
  • Assessment of neurological status, pain scores (VAS, ODI), and radiological parameters.

Main Results:

  • Statistically significant improvements in Visual Analog Scale and Oswestry Disability Index scores.
  • Significant corrections in thoracic kyphosis, sagittal vertical axis, and thoracolumbar kyphosis.
  • Low complication rate, with 4 revisions for screw loosening; early mobilization and short hospital stay.

Conclusions:

  • Both Dynesys® and Orthrus® systems provide satisfactory clinical results.
  • No serious stabilization issues were encountered with either system.
  • Dynamic stabilization systems are safe for long-segment stabilization surgeries.
