Gasdermin D (GSDMD) activation drives liver injury in alcoholic hepatitis by promoting hepatocyte pyroptosis and mitochondrial dysfunction. Inhibiting GSDMD or improving mitochondrial function may offer new therapeutic strategies for alcoholic hepatitis.
