Summary

This study highlights intense FDG uptake in a rare neurothekeoma case. The rare cutaneous lesion showed abnormal activity in both primary and metastatic sites on PET/CT scans.

  • A 16-year-old male presented with a primary neurothekeoma on his right shoulder.
  • Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) imaging was performed.

Findings:

  • Intense Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake was observed at the site of the primary neurothekeoma.
  • Two years post-diagnosis, the same patient exhibited abnormal FDG activity in metastatic neurothekeoma within the lung.

Implications:

  • This case suggests that FDG PET/CT may be a valuable tool for detecting and monitoring neurothekeoma, including metastatic disease.
  • Further research is warranted to explore the utility of FDG PET/CT in the broader clinical context of neurothekeoma management.
