This study presents a challenging case of multiple, treatment-resistant keratoacanthomas (KA) and co-existing skin cancers. A combination therapy of oral acitretin and topical 5-FU effectively treated KAs on extremities.

  • Keratoacanthoma (KA) is a fast-growing skin tumor, typically solitary but rarely presents as multiple lesions in rare genetic syndromes.
  • Syndromes with multiple KA-like lesions include Ferguson-Smith syndrome, Grzybowski syndrome, Witten and Zak syndrome, and incontinentia pigmenti.
  • Managing these syndromes is difficult due to numerous lesions, undefined nature, and potential co-existence of other skin malignancies.
