Summary

Inverted papillomas are benign nasal tumors that can be locally aggressive. This study presents rare cases of inverted papilloma originating from the frontal and sphenoid sinuses, successfully resected endoscopically.

Background:

  • Inverted papilloma (IP) is a benign neoplasm of the sinonasal tract.
  • While typically arising from the lateral nasal wall or maxillary sinus, IPs can occur in rarer locations.
  • IPs are locally aggressive and can pose surgical challenges when involving sinuses like the frontal or sphenoid.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To report two rare cases of inverted papilloma originating from the frontal and sphenoid sinuses.
  • To highlight the endoscopic surgical approach for these challenging locations.

Main Methods:

  • Case presentation of two patients with sinonasal inverted papilloma.
  • Surgical resection via endoscopic endonasal approach.
  • Histopathological confirmation of inverted papilloma.

Main Results:

  • Successful endoscopic resection of inverted papilloma originating from the frontal sinus in one patient.
  • Successful endoscopic resection of inverted papilloma originating from the sphenoid sinus anterior wall and Onodi cell in another patient.
  • No immediate complications reported post-operatively.
