Summary

Antimicrobial-associated encephalopathy (AAE) can occur when antibiotics disrupt brain signaling by affecting gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors. Consider AAE in patients with new neurological or psychiatric symptoms after starting antibiotics.
