Self-Report Tests of Personality01:22

Self-Report Tests of Personality

343
Self-report inventories are objective personality assessments that use multiple-choice items or numbered scales, typically ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). They are often called Likert scales after Rensis Likert. These inventories are widely used due to their ease of administration and cost-effectiveness. One of the most prominent examples is the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), initially developed in the 1940s to assess abnormal personality traits.

Nursing Evaluation01:15

Nursing Evaluation

3.3K
The evaluation stage signals the end of the nursing process. The nurse gathers evaluative data to assess whether or not the patient has attained the expected results. Whereas the nurse collects data in the nursing assessment to identify the patient's health concerns, the evaluation stage data determines if the indicated health issues are resolved. Evaluative data collection includes two sections: the data acquired to evaluate patient outcomes and the time criteria for data collection.

Nursing Assessment01:29

Nursing Assessment

7.6K
The two sources for collecting information are primary and secondary. After gathering information, interpretation and validation help to complete the data. The purpose of assessment is to establish data with the initial information, to interpret data about the patient's perceived needs and health problems, and to respond to these problems identified.
The nurse collects all aspects of the patient's health in the initial assessment, establishing priorities for ongoing focused assessments...

Problem-intervention-evaluation (PIE) is a systematic approach to documentation used in healthcare settings for clinical decision-making and patient care planning. It is a structured approach to organizing patient data based on problems, interventions, and evaluations. Here's a breakdown of its key features and considerations:

Summary
This summary is machine-generated.

A new Nursing Staff Presenteeism Scale (NSPS) was developed to measure nurses attending work while unwell. This validated tool helps identify causes and impacts of presenteeism, improving patient safety and care quality.

Area of Science:

  • Nursing
  • Occupational Health
  • Psychometrics

Background:

  • Nurses experience high presenteeism rates, negatively impacting performance, patient safety, and care quality.
  • A validated tool for assessing nurse presenteeism in Taiwan was lacking.
  • This study aimed to develop and validate the Nursing Staff Presenteeism Scale (NSPS).

Approach:

  • Developed scale items based on literature review, prior studies, and expert consultation.
  • Recruited 500 nurses from three Taiwanese medical centers for scale development and validation.
  • Utilized exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation modeling for psychometric evaluation.

Key Points:

  • The final 44-item NSPS on a five-point Likert scale comprises three factors: physical/mental discomfort, work performance, and predisposing factors.
  • These factors explained 63.14% of the cumulative variance.
  • The NSPS demonstrated high reliability (Cronbach's alpha = 0.953) and satisfactory validity.

Conclusions:

  • The NSPS is a reliable and valid instrument for assessing presenteeism in clinical nurses.
  • The scale provides insights into presenteeism causes and effects, aiding institutions in enhancing care safety and quality.
