Tuberculin skin test (TST) conversion alone may overestimate Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection, particularly in older individuals. Interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA) conversion, especially with concurrent TST conversion, may indicate a more robust immune response to Mtb.
