Summary

Lithium-associated hyperparathyroidism (LAH) surgery is complex, with higher complication risks. A functional surgical approach is recommended to maintain normal calcium levels and minimize permanent hypoparathyroidism, accepting some recurrence risk.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To analyze surgical extent, complications, and long-term outcomes in patients with lithium-associated hyperparathyroidism.
  • To compare outcomes between LAH and primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) without lithium exposure.
