    Summary

    Tubuloreticular structures (TRS) and test tube and ring-shaped forms (TRF) are prevalent in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). These ultrastructural changes may serve as valuable diagnostic and prognostic markers for AIDS progression.

    Background:

    • Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is a complex condition affecting multiple organ systems.
    • Ultrastructural analysis offers insights into cellular changes associated with viral infections.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the presence and significance of specific ultrastructural changes in patients with AIDS and its prodrome.
    • To evaluate tubuloreticular structures (TRS) and test tube and ring-shaped forms (TRF) as potential diagnostic and prognostic markers.

    Main Methods:

    • Ultrastructural examination of blood and various tissues from 97 AIDS patients and 25 prodrome patients.
    • Systematic observation and quantification of specific cellular morphologies, including TRS and TRF.
