    Summary

This study describes twelve new cases of peripheral T-cell malignant lymphoma, crucial for identifying subtypes. Diagnostic methods like the rosette test and immunocytology were key to classifying these rare lymphomas.

    Area of Science:

    • Hematology
    • Oncology
    • Immunology

    Background:

    • Peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCLs) are a diverse group of aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphomas.
    • Accurate classification of PTCL subtypes is essential for prognosis and treatment.
    • Limited data exists on specific PTCL variants in certain geographic regions.

    Observation:

    • Twelve cases of peripheral T-cell malignant lymphoma variants were identified and described.
    • Histological examination revealed a dominant feature of convoluted nuclei.
    • A voluminous, well-demarcated, water-clear cytoplasm was consistently observed in these lymphoma cells.

    Findings:

    • The Rosette test and immunocytology proved crucial for the accurate identification and subtyping of these PTCL cases.
    • The observed histological and cytological features were analogous to previously reported Far East cases of similar lymphoma variants.
    • Notably, hypercalcemia and significant pulmonary lesions, sometimes associated with other PTCL types, were not present in these twelve cases.

    Implications:

    • This description expands the understanding of PTCL heterogeneity and geographical distribution.
    • The diagnostic methods highlighted (Rosette test, immunocytology) are vital for recognizing these specific PTCL variants.
    • The absence of hypercalcemia and pulmonary lesions in these cases may suggest distinct clinical or prognostic characteristics requiring further investigation.
