Contractile responses of dendrites in the bullfrog retina

Abstract:
Isolated retinae of the bullfrog were found to "contract" when excited either by electric stimulation of the optic nerve or by light stimulation of the photoreceptors. Involvement of the dendrites of the ganglion and amacrine cells in these contractile responses is suggested.
