Fundamentals of magnetic resonance imaging

Magnetic resonance (MR) is a new method for obtaining high quality tomographic images of potentially greater pathophysiologic specificity than conventional imaging methods. The basic concepts necessary for understanding MR instrumentation and image interpretation are outlined. A fundamental knowledge of MR is needed to appreciate future clinical applications.
