Peripapillary hyperreflective ovoid mass-like structures with cystoid macular edema: a case report

Newly identified peripapillary hyperreflective ovoid mass-like structures (PHOMS) associated with cystoid macular edema (CME) were observed. Treatment improved vision and CME, but PHOMS persisted, suggesting they may indicate optic nerve issues.

- PHOMS may serve as potential biomarkers for axoplasmic stasis in various optic nerve diseases.
- Further research attention is warranted for PHOMS due to their clinical significance.
