[Ultrasound guided puncture of wall fixed intrathoracic processes]

To improve differentiation of intrathoracic lesions in the vicinity of the chest wall, 167 patients were investigated via sonography. In the case of an indication the lesions were punctured, assisted by sonography. Sonography proved helpful in differentiating between liquid and solid masses and in localising the spot for puncture resulting in the successful removal of material for cytologic analysis in all our cases without any complications. The results of the study are presented, and the sonographic morphology is shown.
