    Researchers discovered two new peptides, alpha-inhibin-52 and alpha-inhibin-92, in human seminal plasma. These peptides exhibit significantly higher inhibin-like activity in suppressing follitropin release compared to previously identified forms.

    Background:

    • Human seminal plasma contains various peptides with biological activity.
    • Previous research identified an inhibin-like peptide (ILP-(1-31)), now designated alpha-inhibin-31.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To isolate and characterize additional inhibin-like peptides from human seminal plasma.
    • To evaluate the biological activity of newly identified peptides in suppressing follitropin (FSH) release.

    • Further investigation into the role of these novel inhibin-like peptides in reproductive physiology is warranted.
