Risk Factors for Trochanteric Bursitis Following Total Hip Arthroplasty: A Radiographic Analysis

Increased hip offset does not increase the risk of trochanteric bursitis (TB) after total hip arthroplasty (THA). Women are identified as a risk factor for developing TB post-THA.

- Female sex was associated with a 1.79 times increased risk of TB (HR: 1.79, P = .009).
- No significant association found between changes in offset or leg length and TB risk in univariate or multivariate analyses.
Conclusions:
- No relationship exists between femoral, acetabular, or total offset and TB after THA.
- Female patients represent a significant risk factor for TB post-THA.
- Surgeons may consider offset adjustments for stability, but routine use is not advised based on this retrospective data.
