IL-6 Inhibition as a Therapeutic Target in Aged Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis

Blocking interleukin-6 (IL-6) signaling did not improve multiple sclerosis (MS) in aged mice. However, this approach increased immunosuppressive responses, suggesting potential for age-specific MS therapies.

- Therapeutic IL-6 inhibition alone is insufficient to improve EAE outcomes in an aging context.
- IL-6 blockade enhances peripheral immunosuppressive mechanisms, offering a basis for further research.
- Optimizing anti-IL-6 treatment strategies may lead to effective age-specific therapies for elderly MS patients.
