Vaginal anaerobes are associated with cervicitis: A case-control study

A non-optimal vaginal microbiota, characterized by low levels of beneficial lactobacilli and increased BV-associated bacteria, is linked to cervicitis in women negative for common sexually transmitted infections (STIs). This suggests specific bacteria may cause STI-negative cervicitis.
