    Summary

    Eruptive syringomas, a rare skin condition, presented atypically in a young African American woman. This case highlights the need to recognize diverse skin presentations in people of color.

    Area of Science:

    Background:

    • Syringomas are benign neoplasms originating from eccrine sweat glands.
    • Eruptive syringomas typically manifest during puberty or childhood on the chest, neck, and abdomen.

    Observation:

    • A 20-year-old African American female presented with an unusual distribution of eruptive syringomas.
    • Lesions were observed on the chest, abdomen, and bilateral extremities (anterior and posterior).

    Findings:

    • This case represents an atypical presentation of eruptive syringomas.
    • The distribution was notably different from typical presentations, especially in a patient with darker skin.

    Implications:

    • Recognizing diverse skin conditions in patients of color is crucial for accurate diagnosis.
