Abstract:
Fahr syndrome is a rare neurological disorder characterized by a combination of neurological and psychiatric symptoms. Despite its complexity, there is a significant scarcity of literature addressing the treatment of the psychiatric symptoms of Fahr syndrome. This case report discusses the complexity of management of psychosis in patients with Fahr syndrome emphasizing the delicate balance required to address both psychiatric and neurological symptoms. It underscores the need for a collaborative treatment approach. Furthermore, this case report explores the potential role for electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) in management of psychosis in Fahr syndrome, a topic for which there is limited existing literature. We aim to contribute to bridging this fap with our report.
