    Summary

    Pirbuterol, a beta 2-agonist, and theophylline showed additive bronchodilation in rats. In asthmatic patients, pirbuterol combinations were as effective as ephedrine combinations, suggesting beta 2-agonists may not be superior to ephedrine.
