    Background:

    • Progressive systemic sclerosis (PSS) is a complex autoimmune disease.
    • Accurate classification of PSS subgroups is crucial for understanding disease progression and treatment.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the prevalence and significance of specific antinuclear antibodies (ANAs) in patients with PSS.
    • To determine if ANA specificities can serve as biomarkers for distinct PSS subgroups.

    Main Methods:

    • Sera from 84 PSS patients were analyzed for ANAs using immunofluorescence on HEp2 cells and gel immunodiffusion.
    • Antibody specificities, including anti-centromere, anti-Scl 70, and anti-nRNP, were identified.
