Osteointegration of functionalised high-performance oxide ceramics: imaging from micro-computed tomography

High-performance oxide ceramics (HPOCs) functionalized with Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2 (BMP-2) show enhanced osseointegration. BMP-2 coated HPOCs demonstrated superior bone volume and thickness compared to RGD or silanised coatings in rabbit models.

- The findings support the use of BMP-2 functionalized HPOCs for enhanced bone integration.
