Background:

Accurate calibration of multi-leaf collimators (MLCs) is crucial for precise radiation delivery.
Existing MLC calibration methods may have limitations in accuracy and efficiency.
Electronic portal imaging devices (EPIDs) offer a potential tool for quality assurance.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop and validate an electronic portal imaging device (EPID)-based procedure for multi-leaf collimator (MLC) calibration using log files.
To assess the accuracy and robustness of developed algorithms for detecting MLC leaf position errors.
To establish a reliable method for routine MLC quality assurance.

Performed picket fence fields with varying strip widths using an EPID.

This simple, quantitative method can detect a wide range of MLC leaf position errors with sub-millimeter accuracy, suitable for routine QA.
