Area of Science:

  • Orthopedic surgery
  • Knee biomechanics

Background:

  • Anterior knee pain is frequently linked to a tight lateral retinaculum, impacting patellar tracking and stability.
  • Various conditions, including patellofemoral pain syndrome and arthritis, can cause lateral soft-tissue tightness.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To describe a novel arthroscopic technique for lateral retinacular lengthening.
  • To present a minimally invasive alternative to open surgical procedures for addressing lateral retinacular tightness.

Main Methods:

  • Detailed description of the arthroscopic surgical procedure for lateral retinacular lengthening.
  • Emphasis on techniques to minimize complications and optimize patient recovery.

Main Results:

  • The arthroscopic approach aims to reduce operative time and accelerate patient recovery compared to open surgery.
