Der Anaesthesist
|June 1, 1985
Abstract:
Based on the assumption that anxiety has constructive elements in coping with a threatening situation, a model of psychological preparation for surgery is offered. The components of this model have been provided as useful in the psychological treatment of anxiety disorders. It was suggested to enable the patient to a co-operate more actively with his preparation and recovery process. However even in a balanced individual psychological or/and pharmacological preparation for surgery does not compensate for an individual and psychological postoperative care.
