Background:

Maintaining normal intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) is critical after ventral hernia repair.
Elevated IAP can lead to complications like abdominal hypertension and compartment syndrome.

Purpose of the Study:

To assess intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) changes during ventral hernia repair using Lázaro da Silva's technique.
Evaluate the safety of this procedure concerning IAP levels.

Main Methods:

Intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) was measured via intravesical pressure at four key intraoperative points.
The study analyzed 28 patients undergoing incisional herniorrhaphy.

Main Results:

A minor increase of 0.5 mmHg in IAP was observed during the procedure.
This increase was consistent across various patient demographics and hernia characteristics.

Conclusions:

Lázaro da Silva's procedure for ventral hernia repair is associated with a minimal IAP increase.
The technique does not appear to induce intra-abdominal hypertension or abdominal compartment syndrome.
