Background:

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) presents new tools for professional development.
ChatGPT, a large language model, has emerged as a significant AI tool with potential applications in various fields, including healthcare.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the awareness and utilization of ChatGPT among nurses.
To understand how nurses are currently using ChatGPT for professional activities.

Main Methods:

An online questionnaire was administered to 124 nurses in a nursing education program.
Data collected included demographics, awareness of ChatGPT, and patterns of use.
Survey responses from 71 nurses were analyzed.

Main Results:

Over half of the surveyed nurses (56.3%) were aware of ChatGPT.
A significant portion (43.7%) reported no awareness of ChatGPT.
Among users, ChatGPT was primarily utilized for studying (13 nurses), essay writing (10 nurses), research (5 nurses), and communication (2 nurses).

Conclusions:

Findings indicate a moderate level of awareness and varied usage of ChatGPT among nurses.
