Interoceptive Processing in Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders

Functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs) involve altered gut-brain communication and interoception. Reviewing 38 studies, we found FGID patients have heightened visceral sensitivity and altered brain activity, suggesting interoception-based treatments.
