Severe diaphragmatic myoclonus treated with unconventional therapy: A case report

Abstract:
Diaphragmatic myoclonus is defined as a rare focal dyskinesia characterized by repetitive involuntary synchronous contractions of the diaphragm. We present a case report of a 61-year-old patient with diaphragmatic myoclonus due to a bleeding cavernoma in the region of the Guillan-Mollaret triangle successfully treated with focused injection of botulinum toxin into the m. rectus abdominis due to failure of oral therapy. Due to the fact that diaphragmatic myoclonus is very serious, its correct diagnosis and effective treatment are of great importance, especially when it comes to its clinically severe forms.
